Dan Faggella is a little guy from Rhode Island who likes winning Brazilian jiu-jitsu and submission grappling competitions with leglocks. He also has an analytical approach and shares his knowledge by teaching at his academy – Black Diamond MMA – and through his blogs, magazine and online articles, and prolific email campaigns. A while back Dan contacted me to talk about his three favourite Jiu-Jitsu Vortex articles and what draws scientists to Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
I’ve known about Dan since my friend and training partner, David Levy-Booth of The Jiu Jitsu Laboratory, was featured on the Science of Skill, and since then I’ve started noticing him all over the place: Micro BJJ, Science of Skill, Jiu-Jitsu Magazine, Footlock Friday, BJJ Legends, and in my email inbox. Notably, Dan recently talked to Tim at Inside BJJ about the upcoming Metamoris 2 Brazilian jiu-jitsu super-event and how Shinya Aoki could possibly take out Kron Gracie (Hint: by legock).
After Dan and I shot the shit over Skype, he wrote about Micro BJJ’s Top Three Jiu-Jitsu Vortex Articles. I’m slow, and Dan’s article has been up for a while now, but check it out if you haven’t already.
